Next, we have the talented Bethany Chan who very convincingly played Kristine, the super fantastic dancer who just couldn’t seem to sing.
Moving A Chorus Line from the rehearsal room to the studio was…
Amazing and exciting. When we ran rehearsals in the studio, it was nice and a little small. Then we headed to Beacon Hill School for two rehearsals and that was already a big difference, not only in terms of size, but also the energy the musical had. When we reached the theatre, it was an amazing and tingly feeling, because you see all these lights and the stage and the dressing rooms, and you say to yourself “Wow, this IS actually happening!”
The more and more we practiced and performed on that stage, the higher and bigger the level of energy and passion we all had for performing and being on stage.
I have learnt to
Try new things. Acting and singing have never really been my thing, but this year, I challenged myself and went to the singing and acting audition for the musical, as well as the dancing audition. I am so glad I went to the singing and acting audition, because now I am a little bit more confident in singing and acting! I can’t wait for the next YAF show!
What I am going to miss…
I’m definitely going to miss the cast and everyone involved in A Chorus Line (including choreographers and directors). We spent so much time together, they are like my second family. They are all so nice and fun to be around, I will definitely miss rehearsals.
Tell us something we don’t know!
While each show was on, in the boys dressing room, they would be changing songs and monologues of A Chorus Line into monologues and songs with the theme of FOOD! They are hilarious (chips and faaats)!

Challenges?
I think the most challenging thing for me other than it ending, was the acting. I’m not much of an actress and Kristine was a challenging role to be when she is not talking. But in the end, I think I did a good job in portraying the character Kristine.
Another thing that was challenging for me during the performances of ACL, was the fact that I had my GCSE mock exams during the performance week. I had to balance studying, taking the exams and performing, which was pretty tough but I got through it. For the first three days of the week I would go to school, take my mock exams then head to the theater for rehearsals and study whenever I had time. For the three performance dates, during the breaks in between shows, I would be studying and preparing for my next few mock exams. It was a bit stressful but worth it!
What’s next?
For dancing, I’m going to be in a dance with some cast members of A Chorus Line, choreographed by Giselle (one of the choreographers). I will also be going to regular dance class. But for singing and acting, I’m not sure…
